How clean should my hair be for my hair appointment?
I have clients who will call me the day before their haircut or color appointment asking if they should wash their hair before their service.
Here’s a great rule of thumb when it comes to this issue.
Hair that is a bit dirty is completely fine! A bit of oil and hair product doesn’t interfere with the color process. When working with fine textured hair, having the hair be a bit “dirty” actually makes it easier to manage during a color service.
Here’s what not to do:
— Don’t come in with wet hair.
Arriving with wet hair takes time away from the color appointment and can make things feel rushed. Dry hair is always preferred!
— If your hair is extremely curly consider straightening it the day before.
Smooth hair is more natural to work on and often less painful for clients. Taking the time to smooth hair before having hair color applied ensures a clean and even finished result.
— If it’s dirty enough to gross you out — it’s probably time for a wash.
Speaking of hair color… is it time to freshen yours up?
